SEA

In a jug of beer,
I saw the sea.
Ice floating on sunset water
Reminds me of her diamond smile
Flowing from her siesta body.
The small boats
Swimming on her face,
Shimmering in northern wind
Like a dense bunch of hair.
I love the look
On her tidal calendar,
Each twitch waiting for my arrival,
A thing of beauty
Joy for the moment
And in a moment
I saw the sea…

AN EVENING AFTER RAIN

Seated behind dark horses,
Sun God rained hypnotic gold flowers.
Perfumed earth in an early garland of foul water
Bathed.
Soaked my thirsty lips,
Cob webs of forty days and forty nights
Cleared,
As if by the stroke of a painter’s brush.
My dark heart shrugged
Age old dust and mud.
Emerged it,
Like a princess on a ramp,
Shimmering in all love and good health.

MACHU PICHU

I climbed the height of Machu Pichu
To see your nocturnal play.
Your silver glow
Dancing under the mouths of caves.
My dark skeleton of rock solid stones,
Which make the brown grass
Shimmer in pathos of love;
Savor your glittering thighs;
Made of sweet-smelling-sweat of pains.
My stone-faced-Incan-Angel,
I come to you
Since the beginning of time
To seek truth
In the bosom of rain-soaked-marigold
And to smell your melancholic breath.
I am your wanderer,
The forgotten warrior,
Biblical architect
And you are my
Divine stone face.

ASHVASTHAMA

Come Ashvasthama,
I will make you
My Captain!
I will give you
A place you deserve
From a time
Older than the mountains.
An award
You desire
For the five heads,
I will pay you
Five rose-hearts & five rose-lips
Throbbing for you & chanting you name.
Come,
Be my Captain.

VISHNU SAHASRA NAAM

In the hour of need,
People call you.
Not by one name or two;
But by thousand different names of you.
You,
The wisest of all,
The mightiest and strongest of all,
The pool of seminal fluid,
The birth-place of all deeds;
Resting,
In a deep meditation,
A sleep,
 Heavier than a thousand opium,
A sea of milk,
Snake-bed of silk,
Look to those disciples,
In a half-grin half-smirk pose,
Throw a smile towards them.
Your smile,
The epitome of sublime,
Seems all ironic,
Of all time..
In the hour of need…

DOOR-BELL

At moments inappropriate
You ring
My feet
Assemble my body
Drag me to the door
Your shrill voice
My long hand
On my chest
Eyes closed
Mind pictures
Scent from a mile
The color of her dress
Curves of her neck
Yellow skin
Gold hair
Angle of face
And extent of her smile…

My long hand
On the door knob
My heart-train
Nostrils smoke
Eyes opened
Mind summons
A white sheet
Wraps her scent,
Dress, neck, face
And her smile
Packed
Sent
To a station unknown
Not to return
Until your next call
Next ring
Next turmoil…
My door-bell.

A DEATH

Last Sunday
In the morning
When I saw her
Inside the butcher’s shop
My love died.
That very moment
The edge of the long knife
Fell right on my left rib
Splitting it in two;
Pointed steel
Sharp as her eyes
Poked inside
My blood-red-heart
Popped out,
Drops of love
Dripping all over
Perfumed earth.
My blood-red-heart
Cut to pieces
Each little one
Tossed in mid-air
To feed the dog,
The crow and the eagle
By your
Sweet little hands;
Divinity in your face
Contemplative eyes
Pitied voice.
At a distance
I stood;
Love like sweat
Dripping
Inside and outside,
Dead water
Dark as pantheon
In a spurt from underground
Drowned me
From toe
To head.

AFTER THE FULL MOON

After the full moon
You came.
Dark as a night,
Body of crow,
Teeth like thunder,
mind of Lucifer,
Perched on my sky-light.
You had a pact with the devil
Secret;
Eyes folded,
Threads of love
Pecked me,
My chest,
My genital…
Devoured me.
You flew like the moon;
My remains scattered
For the ungrateful ants,
Denying me a decent burial
A home;
I long for so long
To preserve
Your beak,
Your skin
And the devil in you.

NAILED

The world outside my window
Is a heap of rubble.
Drenched,
Debris of roofs
Hanging from the sky
Which is not more than 30 feet tall.
Drenched,
Clothes and rags
Swinging by ropes
That connect heaven to earth.
With a swivel of wind,
The world outside
Turns upside down.
But
The mirror in my room
Remains unperturbed,
Rigid,
As if nailed…

TOHFA

(To a girl I met in a train)

A gift of God
To this world.
Wintry eyes, Summer dreams...
Moist voice, Hidden laughter-
Hidden screams...
Full of life like a stream.
Filled with dreams
And only dreams…
