PIGEONS

Now, they have even dragged the sun to the horizon.
Pecking the earth for food grains
Even yesterday’s newspaper.
Chattering, humping and jumping on each other.
Talking for their wordless nights and tiresome days.

And here, I am watching them,
Shattered in a crumpled sheet of unyielding love,
Howling with you, Anamika…
You are sleeping,
Sleeping like an innocent fetus inside the egg-shell
Rested in their apartment nest.

In a delirium, here I am,
Battered, pampered,
Struggling with alphabets of love, sex and confusions.
Restless in a loveless-night, nightless-moon,
Incompatible company, Anamika…
Envying them,
There, the flock of them.
